As technology has improved, the project has occasionally upgraded some of the scanned materials to reflect this. In the late 1990s through to the early 2000s, this magazine and its myriad issues were scanned by Mike Maginnis, who assembled them into PDF files and made available through a variety of means. (Only three issues of Core were published, before it was wrapped back into the main magazine.) Besides the main Computist magazine, Softkey also published related titles Core and Hardcore Computist. Originally called Hardcore Computing, the name was soon changed after a young reader's parent complained about the adult-sounding title.
